Kantara Initiative Launches Drive For Digital Identity Professional Association

Industry Professionals Encouraged To Show Support And Comment On Kantara’s Open Pledge Page
WAKEFIELD, Mass., USA – May 11, 2016 — Kantara Initiative, which provides strategic vision and real-world innovation elements for the digital identity transformation, today unveiled an industry-wide drive to generate support for a non-profit, open professional association to represent and certify digital identity professionals. Digital identity professionals are encouraged to show support by electronically signing their name and commenting on Kantara’s open forum Pledge Page.  As the leading non-profit digital identity organization, Kantara’s goal is to promote a collaborative approach to professionalizing the digital identity industry with a focus on professional and community development including knowledge sharing, mentoring and education.  

“Identity is the missing third leg on the stool with security and privacy.  Neither security or privacy professionals can fully meet their challenges without digital identity because digital identity practices give assurance that authorization is correctly executed,” said Colin Wallis, executive director, Kantara Initiative.  “Privacy, assurance and security professionals have organizations dedicated to the betterment of their industries.  Now is the time for digital identity professionals to enjoy the same betterment opportunities such as professional development, shared practices and networking with peers from around the world. ”

The Kantara Pledge Page was created as a vehicle for debate and discussion about a digital identity professional association, its value to practitioners, employers and other technical and business professionals.  After a 90-day open discussion period the Kantara Pledge Page will be temporarily closed and the results reviewed.  A report outlining results and comments will be issued by Kantara to help target the needs of the digital identity professional and guide a digital identity professional association’s future direction.
