Identity.com Earns Kantara Initiative Trust Mark as Approved Credential Service Provider

Joins select group of organizations conforming to Kantara Trust Framework requirements for secure identity management

WAKEFIELD, Mass., USA – November 14, 2017 – Kantara Initiative announced today that Identity.com was approved by the Kantara Board of Directors as an Approved Credential Service Provider (CSP) at Level 3 non-Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). The CSP approval means that Identity.com operating standards were assessed against strict criteria and it was granted the right to use the Kantara Trust Mark. Therefore, it is now qualified to issue and manage identity credentials, among other identity proofing services, which will allow the company to access new markets, customers and communities that recognize the Kantara Trust Framework.
Only nine organizations have received the Kantara Initiative Inc. grant of Trustmark as an Approved CSP worldwide. The Kantara Identity Assurance Program is the industry leading program that Accredits Assessors and Approves Credential Service Providers at Assurance Levels 1, 2 & non-PKI Level 3, based on the Kantara Service Assessment Criteria.
“We’re thrilled to be joining the Kantara community as an Approved CSP,” said Matt Muller, director of trust, Identity.com. “Our customers’ trust is paramount, and the Kantara assessment process provides a level of rigor that helps give them confidence in the strength of our platform. We believe that Kantara accreditation represents an excellent long-term investment for our business, and we look forward to participating in the community as identity verification and authentication standards continue to evolve.”
The Kantara Board of Directors also ratified several CSP renewals, including ID.me as full service CSP Assurance Level 3 non-PKI; SUNET as full service CSP Assurance Levels 1 and 2 and Medallies as full service CSP at Assurance Level 1, 2 and 3 non-PKI.
“I’m greatly encouraged by the growth in Approved CSPs gaining the Kantara Trust Mark and the uptake of US and global interest from communities and federations in the Kantara Program,” said Colin Wallis, executive director, Kantara Initiative Inc. “Trust is now recognised as foundational in any online interaction and 3rd party assessment offered by Kantara on its own and other partner Trust Frameworks is a crucial component”.
Kantara operates a supporting governance system and process to assess, approve and grant Trust Marks to organizations acting as Trust Framework Providers or Operators, seeking conformance with a given set of requirements to assure the security, protection and privacy of a person’s identity and personal data.
