In order to conduct identity checks for conformance with the UK Disclosure & Barring Service, agents must use identity services that have been certified by one of the UK’s approved Certification Bodies (CB)

While not mandatory, it is recommended that identity checks  carried out in order to conform with Right to Work and Right to Rent also use DIATF-conformant identity services

Every client will differ according to the size and complexity of the organisation, sector-specific regulation and the number of known entities to be assessed

The evidence required is aligned to that stipulated. We will gather evidence through interviews and observation, sampling of specific records and product testing

Our UK Trust Review Board meets regularly to review all applications. Once they are satisfied that all criteria for certification have been fully met, a certificate will be issued along with our Trust Mark. At this point, notice of the award will also be uploaded to the GOV.UK page of DIATF certified services

• Identity Service Providers (IDSP) prove and verify an individual’s identity on behalf of a relying party e.g. a recruitment agency
  
• Attribute Service Providers (ASP) collect, check and create individual attributes (data elements) within a digital ID.  Users authorise the ASP to share their attributes with an IDSP and with relying parties e.g. a landlord carrying out a right to rent check
  
• Orchestration Service Providers ensure that all data are securely shared between ISPs, ASPs and the relying parties that need to use identity data
  
• Holder Service Providers (HSP) give individuals a secure, user‑controlled environment to store and manage their verified identity and attribute data. This may be a digital wallet, an account space, or another trusted holder interface. Users control what information is shared and with whom, and the HSP ensures that data are stored safely and presented securely when needed.
  
• Component Service Provider (CSP) – CSPs are the technology suppliers behind the scenes, the companies providing biometric software, anti-fraud tools, or other technical components that support digital identity systems. For example, a facial recognition vendor supplying software to IDSPs would be a CSP. Certification ensures these providers meet strict standards for reliability, fairness, and security.
