Congratulations on re-election and new leadership for Kantara Initiative’s Leadership Council
Kantara Initiative and the community would like to thank John Bradley as Chair for his hard work and leadership over the past year in spearheading the work of the Leadership Council alongside Pete Palmer and Lara Zimberoff. John will be missed, although we’re glad to continue working closely with him as we move Kantara’s work forward.

Announcing re-election and new leadership for Kantara Initiative’s eGovernment Work Group
Please join us in congratulating re-elected leadership of Kantara Initiative’s eGovernment Work Group
- Rainer Hoerbe, Chairman
- Colin Wallis, Vice Chairman
- Keith Uber, Secretary
The eGovernment Work Group is responsible for:
- Facilitating collaboration and discussion among Kantara members with an interest in eGovernment identity management applications and services
- Acting as a forum to discuss best practices by government organizations on national, regional and municipal levels
- Presenting “a government view” into other Kantara Initiative Work Groups so that these views may be taken into account in the development of Kantara Initiative Policy – Recommendations and Specifications for future contribution to an appropriate Standards Setting Organization
- Promoting the development, adoption and support for eGovernment deployment profiles of open specifications
Many thanks to Colin Wallis for leading the Work Group over the past few years. We look forward to his continued support alongside Rainer Hoerbe and Keith Uber in moving the work of this group and Kantara forward.

Announcing re-election for Kantara Initiative’s Federation Interoperability Work Group
Please join us in congratulating re-elected leadership of Kantara Initiative’s Federation Interoperability Work Group
John Bradley will serve as the group Co-chair for another one-year term. John is also joined by Co-chair Bob Morgan of University of Washington who has been active for numerous years.
The Federation Interoperability Work Group was formed within the Kantara Initiative to profile existing specifications to define an interoperable trust infrastructure for use by parties participating in Trust Frameworks. This will allow entities to determine the certification status and configuration parameters of entities outside of their local federation.

New leadership for Kantara Initiative Identity Assurance Work Group
Congratulations to Rich Furr who will serve as the new Identity Assurance WG Vice Chair.
The focus of the Identity Assurance WG is to foster the adoption of trusted on-line identity services. To advance this goal, the group will provide a forum for identifying and resolving obstacles to market and commercial acceptance that have limited broad deployment and adoption of trusted identity services thus far.
As Head, Global Regulatory Affairs, Policy & Compliance, SAFE-BioPharma, Association since September 2007, Rich is the SAFE point of contact for activities with the FDA, EMA, EU National Competent Authorities and the PMDA in Japan. He is also the liaison for ongoing activities with the other health related standards organizations such as HL7 and the Electronic Health Initiative (eHI).

New leadership for Kantara Initiative’s Business Cases for Trusted Federations DG
Congratulations to Rainer Hoerbe on his election as Chair of Kantara Initiative’s Business Cases for Trusted Federations DG (DG-BCTF).
The purpose of this discussion group is to identify and raise awareness of business cases around the deployment and adoption of federation models and systems – particularly the Trust Framework model. We look forward to Rainer’s strong leadership of the group.

New change of Management for Kantara Initiative’s Leadership Council
Kantara Initiative and the community would like to thank Trent Adams as Chair and Colin Wallis as Vice-Chair for their hard work and leadership over the past year in spearheading the work of the Leadership Council (LC). Both will be missed, although we’re glad to continue working closely with them as we move Kantara’s work forward.
We welcome John Bradley as Chair, Pete Palmer as Vice-Chair and Eve Maler as Secretary for the next term of leadership. All 3 are active in leading Work Groups (WGs) for Kantara; John for Federation Interoperability, Pete for Healthcare Identity Assurance and Eve for User Managed Access.

New leadership in Kantara Initiative’s Identity Assurance Work Group (IAWG)
Congratulations to Frank Villavicencio and Myisha Frazier-McElveen on their elections as Co-chairs of Kantara Initiative’s Identity Assurance Work Group (IAWG).
This is an exciting time in the IAWG. As we charge forward with an aggressive 2011 agenda, we look forward to their strong leadership in working toward the common goal of accelerating Kantara’s visibility and contributions to the Identity Management / Privacy Communities.
