As for being creative, might I recommend encouraging and supporting
social media use by working group contributors? That could help.

A twitter list & blog roll for each working group would be a win. (Note
that Information Sharing could use these too!)

Also, encouraging more blogging about the work of their groups could
spur more writing. I know a lot of us do blog, but I've only just now
written up the first in-depth discussion of our work at the Information
Sharing work group.

Finally, it might be useful to have a blog aggregation feed for
kantara-tagged blog posts by contributors. I would definitely subscribe
to that--especially since I know I'm probably missing a lot of updates
that are in fact being posted out there in the blogosphere. Having a
simple field on our account management page where we can enter our blog,
then adding "kantara" as a tag on our posts would be all it would take
on the author's side for feed aggregation to pull that together.

Not only would that feed help keep our various working groups
synchronized, it would provide a consistent flow of "press worthy"
content for other media outlets.

Just a few ideas...

But it wasn't going so far as to say we simply don't have anyone to do press releases anymore... that was a bridge too far and is simply not accurate. But the sentiment that we need to be creative is very true and I would like to emphasize that myself :-)

In fact we kicked off a press release today that will go out shortly to promote the event on March 1st. Kantara has a modest marketing budget compared to some of our co-founders, but we do have one!
